Why bother going all the way to Paris, if you’re just going to eat a crÍpe and snap a selfie in front of the Eiffel Tower? CURIOUS TRAVELER is all about traveling like you’re trying to solve a mystery. In each episode, CURIOUS TRAVELER takes you to the most interesting cities of Europe and North America, to find out the who, what, when, where, why, and how, of each location. By digging deep into the local mysteries and hidden histories, viewers discover that there’s so much more to their favorite destinations. Award-winning travel writer and host Christine van Blokland brings her passion and curiosity for history, the arts and quirky characters to this fascinating series, which was a 2018 Parents’ Choice Award winner. Season three includes destinations in England, Ireland, Mexico, Scotland, and a Christmas episode in Austria. The enthusiastic and charming host begins each episode with a list of "curious questions." In Ireland, she poses the questions, "How did Dublin get its name?" and "How did the harp become a symbol of Ireland, and why do the harps on Irish coins and Guinness beer look different?" On her travels to Guanajuato City, Mexico, Christine wonders "Why is there a stone giant holding a flame, high in the hills overlooking the town?" and "Why does the town’s marketplace look like a Paris train station, and its theater look like the Paris Opera House?"
